Mme Mclaughlin’s students learned about Les Coureurs de bois today by carrying their friends on their backs! Carrying heavy loads and bringing back large quantities of furs from their journeys, the fur traders developed ways to protect themselves from the heavy weight. The ceinture fléchée was not only a symbol of cultural pride, but Fur traders also wore them as a way to protect their backs and prevent hernias. The Métis Nation also shares a great cultural pride in the ceinture fléchée and/or Métis Sash. #StJPIIRocks #StJPIILearning #StJPIIFrench

Mrs. McGeachie’s class channeled their inner Michelangelo and tried using Renaissance art techniques of dimension, perspective, realism, and light/shadow. Did you know it took 4 years to complete the Sistine Chapel, and artists worked on scaffolding, often laying down? Working under the desks for 25 minutes was a challenge, and gave insight on the true masterpiece of the Sistine Chapel! #StJPIIRocks #StJPIILearning #renaissance #renaissanceart

Literacy Week at JPII runs from October 23 to 27, and our theme is The Princess Bride.
