We continue to commemorate Métis Week this week at St. JPII, with a vignette related to Metis history and culture shared daily as part of our morning announcements. One of these vignettes included this mural, which allows visitors to explore as a powerful educational resource. Very proud of our Grade 9 Gryphons Volleyball teams for their performance at ASAA South Central Zone Championships this weekend in Brooks - our girls finished in 4th place following a tough loss in the semi-final, while our boys lost in the final and finished 2nd. The boys played 6 games between 11 am and 5:30 pm, with only SEVEN players all day! They lost the final in the 3rd set by a score of 15-13 and only made it that far with camaraderie, adrenaline and Gatorade! 👊🏻 With congratulations for qualifying for Zones, thank you to ALL players for their efforts and all our coaches and parents for your time, driving, and support! #StJPIIAthletics
Our week of remembrance focused on the Spiritual Work of Mercy of Praying for the Dead. Today, we gathered as a community to offer our prayers and thanks to the men and women who have died in service to their country. A special thank you to our student readers, and to our cadets, for their participation today. We also thank Mrs. Coen, who spoke about what it means to be part of a military family. #StJPIIremembers #stjpiicitizenship #benotafraid #StJPIILearning #lestweforget

The #stjpiicultureclub proudly hosted veteran and Legion member, Mr. Malcolm Hughes today at lunch. Mr. Hughes spoke about how remembrance is part of Canadian culture, and how Canadians have served all over the world through the years. Such an honour to have you in our building, Mr. Hughes. Thank you for your service, sir. #StJPIILearning #StJPIICitizenship #weremember #lestweforget

“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.” Isaiah 6:3 Today, Jesus came into our building to spend time with us where we are! Our world is busy, it’s noisy, and it’s chaotic, and our young hearts are being bombarded with noise from every direction. Eucharistic Adoration gives them a chance to be silent - to just sit, be, and contemplate in His presence. #StJPIIFaith #benotafraid #catholiceducation #ibelieveincatholiced #CTRfaith #CTRCatholic
This week is Remembrance Week at JPII. This year, we have a focus on the Spiritual Work of Mecrcy, praying for the dead. We recognize that we are called on to pray for the deceased, especially for the long forgotten ones, such as soldiers. Each morning, students will pray and learn about a Remembrance Week topic, to enhance their appreciation for the week. Students are also encouraged to participate in the Legion’s Literary and Poster contest. #StJPIIRocks #StJPIILearning #StJPIICitizenship #StJPIIFaith #benotafraid #catholiceducation #ibelieveincatholiced #CTRfaith

9-1 did some role playing to apply their knowledge of Youth Justice Committees and the Youth Criminal Justice Act with scenarios. The end goal was to come up with a meaningful and appropriate consequence for a specific situation, using what they learned. A special shout-out to Mrs. Carter, who shared her knowledge and experience as chairperson of the Okotoks Youth Justice Committee via video! #StJPIIRocks #StJPIILearning #StJPIISocial
