January/February Assessments

Here are the important updates regarding our assessment schedule for the upcoming January and early February timeframe. After careful consideration, we have decided to implement a change to our traditional exam/midterm structure.

Key Changes to January Assessments

1. Elimination of Final Exams/PATs: There will be no formal, school-wide final examination period or Provincial Achievement Tests (PATs) scheduled in January.
2. Cumulative Assessment Requirement: Instead, each subject and grade level team is required to collaboratively design and administer one common cumulative assessment. This assessment will measure essential learning outcomes.
3. Assessment Timeline: Cumulative assessments will be conducted in-class during the following two weeks:
   • January 26th – January 30th
   • February 3rd – February 6th

School-Wide Scheduled Assessments (ELA/FLA Only)

The only assessments that will be scheduled school-wide that are centrally coordinated are the ELA and FLA Reading Comprehensions and Essential Writing Components: 

• ELA Reading Comprehension: Friday, January 30th, Period 1
• FLA Reading Comprehension: Friday, February 6th, Period 1
• ELA Written: Wednesday, February 25th, Period 1 & 2
• FLA Written: Thursday, February 26th, Periods 1 & 2
